I have always wanted to further my education but could not find an avenue that fit me.

Tell us a little about yourself and your CTE faculty role at your community college.

I graduated from East Central Community College (ECCC) in 1998 with an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in HVAC Technology. Before returning to ECCC as the HVAC Technology instructor, I spent 20 years in the HVAC industry. I have been the Heating & Air Conditioning Technology Instructor at ECCC since 2014.

Why did you choose to pursue the Bachelor of Applied Science degree?

I have three reasons for pursuing a BAS degree. The first reason is personal gratification. I have always wanted to further my education but could not find an avenue that fit me. When Mississippi State created the BAS in Trade Supervision it seemed perfect. The second and third reasons are if I am going to urge my students to continue in their educational journey I needed to know if the BAS program was going to work for them, and I wanted to know if ECCC instruction is aligned with the subject matter for the BAS degree. So far from what I have experienced the BAS program and schedule work well for someone wanting to continue their education and work and ECCC is in line with the instruction materials offered in the BAS program.
