Applied Science Major
Emphasis Areas

Students will choose an emphasis area to customize their degree and align it with their career goals. An emphasis area is a focused set of courses within the Applied Science major that builds expertise in a specific field. Students can select one of two options: (1) two emphasis areas with 15 credit hours each (5 courses per area), or (2) a single emphasis area with 30 credit hours (10 courses). To meet graduation requirements, students must also complete at least 30 hours of upper-level coursework.

To make selecting an emphasis area more intuitive for prospective students, we have organized them by campus location. Each emphasis area includes the college offering the program and a brief description.

Transcripts sent from other colleges and universities will be evaluated, and accepted credits will be added to the student's MSU record after consulting with your advisor at Mississippi State. The Tuition Estimator is not a guarantee or predictor of the number of credit hours that will be accepted.
